Have Your Say

Exciting news!

You, yes you, sitting there, reading this, being shiny and lovely and wowIlikewhatyou'vedonewithyourhair, can vote on who makes the 2010 PacRim competition program front cover!

Head to the 2010 Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships page at Facebook, click on the 'Discussions' tab and nominate a male or female gymnast who you think is cover-worthy.

Now, being a Pacific Rim event, I take that as being open to any gymnast from the countries taking part - Sui Lu, Elsa Garcia, Koko Tsurumi, Phil Rizzo, Danell Leyva, for example - though I have an inkling they might prefer for only Australians to be nominated...

I don't think China and Japan are coming so probably not Sui Lu or Tsurumi. They are not on the list of confirmed countries GA noted in the 100 days to go release and the definitive registration date has already passed. A shame if they are absent especially since Australia has supported their events like the Japan Cup and Toyota Cup.

Can't facebook at work but are they looking for just artistics or a montage of all the sports involved? That would be nice I think.

does anyone know who may be coming from the non-artistic sports? Like which countries for tramp and acro?

Definitive entries close 12th feb, only provisional entries have closed - does that mean they still have until the 12th feb

I would be very surprised if China/Japan didn't come, since it's a very useful event with the strong international field. They do indeed have until Feb 12th so they're probably just slow.

I hope Prashanth gets a little love in the promotional material, he is a quiet achiever who has consistently achieved good results for us. I like Lauren too, but she has already had so much exposure.

yeah Im with Nade, Prashanth is so modest and humble but consistent and hard working. He would be great on the cover.

has anybody heard anything about camp?

i heard they were training more than 9 hours per day which is a little crazy and will probably cripple someone.

They are training 9 hours per day but have a 3 hour break for lunch

Mind you, there are two 40 minute sessions that are ballet in the AM and turns/leaps in the PM with Stacey. In addition, there are two 15 minute sessions for rehabilitation, so they are not doing anything outrageous. Besides, what the hell else reason would you go to Canberra?

Are you a parent because i couldn't see that info on the website?

It sounds reasonable to me given the camp is for training. It's not like they will be running laps for 9 hours.

that aside though, does anyone have any actual info about how they are performing, or if there are any exciting new skills on show?

There's a report on GA's website
